THE RESTAURANT
|
“Il Girone dei Golosi” Restaurant with its antique stone fireplaces and cosy halls for breakfasts, lunches and dinners based on the area’s products and typical dishes, seasonal menus, Dante period recipes, wine and grappa tasting…
Open all year round (reservation is requested) also for people not staying the night in the Country House
Breakfasts can be arranged, as well as lunches, snacks, dinners, buffets and parties to celebrate various occasions.
Bernardo, one of the owners of the Country House, prepares dishes made with typical products from the area, with genuine passion, or he uses recipes from the past to restore old tastes from the local tradition, prepared at leisure.
A welcome aperitif served in the garden, in the Sala delle Veglie or in the Restaurant halls precedes a round of starters, with the Girone Restaurant’s unmissable potato cake. This is followed by various courses chosen by the customers from a range of offers selected by the Country House. The dishes, which characterise the set menu, vary from day to day, according to the pace of nature: at least two first courses are offered every day and at least two second courses based on top quality meat from the Marche with a side dish of vegetables, homemade cake or fruit salad.
Unusual recipes are also offered from the Dante period: the “filet of pork with apple in caramel” requested by customers has become a particular speciality of the Girone Restaurant. |
On request, we also prepare vegetarian menus, pizzas, focaccia and oven-baked pies.
We particularly use produce from the surrounding orchards, woods and meadows in all four seasons: quality mushrooms and truffles, clematis, elder flowers and berries (the non-toxic variety of course!), juniper berries, nettles, petals of wild rose, violas and primroses, nuts, chestnuts, hazelnuts, little strawberries, blackberries, blackcurrants, red- currants and blueberries, which grow spontaneously, or organically grown fruit and vegetables.
We have also rediscovered the delicious taste of mulberries, a tree that was once also grown in Castello della Pieve where weaving was carried out with precious silk threads (today, as in the distant past, we use these mulberries to make jams and decorate various homemade sweets).
We flavour our food with the different fresh aromatic herbs that grow near the Country House: sage, rosemary, marjoram, laurel, basil,….
Our two old wood-burning ovens allow us to prepare food with a healthy and wholesome taste: focaccia, pizzas, sweet cakes and savoury pies…
The dishes are served with quality wines from the Marche, which are selected and presented on a wine list.
We arrange our tables with passion, and there is always a warm candle light to remind you that eating is not just a necessity, but also an important practice, an art to be enjoyed pleasurably, in harmony.
The “Girone dei Golosi” Restaurant’s pasta is homemade:
we prepare tagliatelle, gnocchi, strozzapreti, filled pasta, passatelli, maltagliati…
The meats, salami, cheeses and ricottas come from the surrounding area’s pasture farms: the rolling, mountainous hinterland is rich in naturally fed cattle.
Jams, cakes, biscuits, bostrenghi (type of cake), tarts, desserts and other delicious sweets are homemade.
In the autumn and winter months you can enjoy pleasant evenings in the Restaurant’s indoor halls, warmed by the fire of the great fireplaces, staying up late sipping vino di visciole (a cherry wine) and vinsanto (sweet white raisin wine) made by excellent local producers.
On request, in the spring and summer you can also have breakfast and eat outside on the scenic terrace.
